GoHighLevel + Claude: The AI Agency Tech Stack Explained (2026)

September 11, 2026

Last updated: September 2026.

A GoHighLevel AI agency tech stack pairs two tools with different jobs: GoHighLevel is the delivery platform your clients log into (CRM, funnels, calendars, SMS, email, workflows, AI receptionist), and Claude is the reasoning engine your agency uses to build, write, analyse and systemise the work that goes into it. GHL is what the client pays for. Claude is what makes you fast enough to keep the margin.

This guide is written by Dr Priya Jaganathan, Claude AI expert and AI keynote speaker based in Brisbane, Australia. Priya is a Go High Level Certified Admin, a Certified AI Tech Stack Consultant and a keynote speaker who runs Pivot 2 Thrive on exactly this stack, so what follows is the configuration we use for client delivery.

What Is a GoHighLevel + Claude Tech Stack?

It is a two-layer operating model for an AI automation agency. The client layer runs on GoHighLevel: every client gets a sub-account containing their contacts, pipelines, booking calendars, review requests, missed-call text-back, conversation AI and voice AI. The agency layer runs on Claude: your team uses Claude Projects, Skills, Cowork and connectors to write the workflow logic, draft every email and SMS sequence, audit sub-accounts, produce client reports and document your standard operating procedures.

The split works because each product is strong where the other is weak. GoHighLevel is a system of record with white-label rights and per-client billing, but it has no memory of how your agency likes things done. Claude has no CRM, no phone numbers and no billing, but it can hold your entire delivery playbook in context and apply it in minutes.

Why Does the Tech Stack Matter for an AI Agency in 2026?

Because the market is still early, and early markets reward agencies that deliver quickly and consistently. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics' Characteristics of Australian Business release for 2024–25 (published June 2026), around 12 per cent of Australian businesses reported using AI, and uptake among small and micro businesses was only about 11 per cent, against 35 per cent of large businesses. That gap is the AI agency opportunity: most of your prospects have not started, and the ones that have are usually experimenting with a chatbot rather than running a system.

On the platform side, HighLevel's November 2025 Deloitte Technology Fast 500 announcement reported more than 2 million businesses on the platform, 781 per cent revenue growth from 2021 to 2024, and roughly 67 million new leads and 1.86 billion messages a month. That scale matters because your clients' data, phone numbers and automations sit on infrastructure that is not going anywhere, a question every buyer of an AI agency offer quietly asks.

How Do GoHighLevel and Claude Fit Together? (Layer by Layer)

Here is the stack as we run it at Pivot 2 Thrive: what each layer does, which tool owns it, and what the other contributes.

Layer Owned by What GoHighLevel does What Claude does
1. Client system of recordGoHighLevelContacts, pipelines, calendars, payments, phone and email, white-labelled under your brandAudits the sub-account against a checklist and writes the fix list
2. Automation logicGoHighLevel workflowsTriggers, if/else branches, waits, tags, webhooks, AI actionsDesigns the workflow map, names every step, writes the prompts inside GHL's AI actions
3. Copy and contentGoHighLevel sends itEmail builder, SMS, social planner, funnels, blogsWrites every sequence in the client's voice from a Claude Project loaded with their brand material
4. Front-line AIGoHighLevelConversation AI, Voice AI receptionist, review responses, appointment booking botsWrites and tests the bot instructions, objection handling and escalation rules before you paste them in
5. Agency operationsClaudeExposes data via API and webhooksCowork and connectors pull GHL data into reports, SOPs, proposals and monthly client reviews
6. Internal toolsClaudeAPI access on Unlimited and SaaS Pro plansClaude Code builds small scripts: bulk tag cleanups, snapshot checks, custom dashboards

Step 1: Set up GoHighLevel as the delivery platform

HighLevel's published 2026 pricing is US$97 a month for Starter (up to three sub-accounts), US$297 for Unlimited (unlimited sub-accounts, white-label, rebilling) and US$497 for SaaS Pro (resell the platform under your own brand). Most Australian agencies should start on Unlimited: Starter caps you at two clients, and SaaS Pro only pays for itself once you are reselling software rather than services. Build one master snapshot with your standard pipelines, calendars, missed-call text-back and review workflow, so every new client starts from the same base.

Step 2: Set up Claude as the agency brain

One Claude seat per delivery person is the minimum. Anthropic's current pricing lists Pro at US$20 a month (US$17 annual), including Claude Code and Claude Cowork; Team seats start at US$25 a month (US$20 annual) with central billing and no model training on your content by default, which we recommend once two or more people touch client data. Create one Claude Project per client, loaded with their website copy, tone notes, offers and objections. Then add your delivery playbooks as Claude Skills so the onboarding audit, the workflow build sheet and the monthly report are produced the same way every time, by whoever is on shift.

Step 3: Connect the two

Three options, in order of effort. First, copy and paste: Claude writes the workflow plan and copy, your team builds it in GHL. This is how most agencies start and it is fine for the first ten clients. Second, connectors: Claude's MCP connectors read from and write to GHL, Gmail, Slack and Google Drive directly, so a Cowork task can pull pipeline data and draft the client's monthly review without anyone exporting a CSV. Our connectors guide covers the setup. Third, API scripts: for repetitive admin such as bulk tag cleanups, Claude Code can write a short script against the HighLevel API that runs in minutes.

Step 4: Productise the delivery

The stack only produces margin if the work is repeatable. Write the SOP for every deliverable you sell, store it as a Skill, and measure delivery time per client. At Pivot 2 Thrive, the onboarding audit that used to be a two-hour manual job is now a Cowork task that runs while the account manager is on the kick-off call. Delivery time is what sets your price, which we cover in how much AI agencies charge.

What Does the GoHighLevel + Claude Stack Cost Per Month?

Software is the cheapest part of an AI agency. Here is the fixed monthly cost for a two-person agency on the configuration above, in US dollars because both vendors bill in USD.

Item Plan Monthly (USD) Notes
GoHighLevelUnlimited$297Unlimited sub-accounts; SMS, email, phone and AI usage billed on top and rebillable to clients
ClaudeTeam, 2 standard seats$50$25 per seat monthly; includes Claude Code and Cowork
Claude API (optional)Pay as you go$10–$50Only if you run scripts; Sonnet 5 is listed at $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens
Total fixed$347–$397Before usage charges, which should be passed through to clients

One retainer client covers that several times over, so the real question is never the software. It is how many clients one person can deliver for, and that number is set by how much of the delivery you have moved into Claude.

How Are Australian Agencies Using GoHighLevel and Claude Together?

A Brisbane example from our own client base: a two-person agency serving trades businesses. Each tradie client gets a GHL sub-account from the master snapshot with missed-call text-back, a quote-follow-up pipeline and a review workflow. Before the kick-off call, the account manager runs a Cowork task that reads the client's Google reviews and website, then drafts the SMS sequences and the AI receptionist instructions in the tradie's plain-spoken voice. The GHL build takes under a day because the thinking was done in Claude. The AI receptionist answers after-hours calls, the pipeline tracks quotes, and the monthly report comes from GHL data rather than screenshots.

The lesson is not the tools. The agency stopped selling hours and started selling a system it could install repeatedly, the same shift we teach in our roadmap for starting an AI automation agency in Australia.

What Are the Common Mistakes With a GoHighLevel + Claude Stack?

  • Buying SaaS Pro on day one. The US$497 plan is for reselling software. If you sell done-for-you services, Unlimited does everything you need for US$200 less a month.
  • Treating Claude as a chatbot instead of a system. One-off prompts give one-off results. Projects, Skills and Cowork make output consistent across clients and staff, and consistency is what a client pays for.
  • Pasting client data into personal accounts. Use Team or Enterprise seats for anything touching client contact lists; Anthropic's plan pages state these do not train on your content by default. You still need an AI-processing clause in your client agreement.
  • Automating before the offer is clear. A well-built stack around a vague offer produces vague results. Decide what you sell first; our comparison of an AI agency versus a marketing agency will help you draw the line.
  • Skipping the SOP. If the process lives only in the founder's head, Claude cannot run it and neither can a new hire. Write it down once, store it as a Skill, and iterate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need both GoHighLevel and Claude to run an AI agency?

For a services agency, yes, or at least one tool from each category. GoHighLevel gives your clients a white-labelled system to log into and lets you bill for it. Claude gives your team a fast, consistent way to produce the workflows, copy and reports that go inside it. Running GHL alone means every build is manual; running Claude alone means you have nothing to deliver into.

Which GoHighLevel plan is best for an AI agency?

Unlimited at US$297 a month for most agencies. It removes the sub-account cap, includes white-labelling and lets you rebill usage to clients. Starter suits a solo operator with one or two clients, and SaaS Pro at US$497 only makes sense once you are reselling the platform as software under your own brand.

Which Claude plan should an agency use?

Claude Pro at US$20 a month is enough for a solo founder and includes Claude Code and Cowork. Once two or more people handle client data, move to Team seats from US$25 a month for central billing, admin controls and no model training on your content by default. Add API credits only when you are running scripts.

Can Claude connect directly to GoHighLevel?

Yes. Claude's MCP connectors and Cowork can read and write GoHighLevel data such as contacts, opportunities, calendars and blog posts, alongside Gmail, Slack and Google Drive. For heavier automation, Claude Code can write scripts against the HighLevel API. Many agencies start with copy-and-paste and add connectors once they have a repeatable process worth automating.

Is client data safe in a GoHighLevel + Claude stack?

It can be, if you configure it deliberately. Keep client records in GoHighLevel, use Claude Team or Enterprise seats rather than personal accounts, and only load into Claude the data a task needs. Add an AI processing clause to your client agreement and check your obligations under the Australian Privacy Act before handling personal information at scale.
